St Albans Centurions committee member Mick O'Shea thought a 'meet up' of Cents club member and players ( and England supporters) would be a good way to start the World Cup Semi Final between England and Samoa on Saturday. We are pleased to announce that Centurions full back / winger Adam Jasinski has been selected to represent Poland Rugby League in their Developing Nations game against Slovakia RL on the 28th of this month in Bratislava and against Norway RL on the 12th of November in London. Adam has said how excited and honoured he is to represent Poland and to wear the Jersey of his heritage. Coach Sam Wingad said "I would like to say how proud I am of Adam and of all the hard work he has put in for Centurions over the last season. Cents founders Gary Tetlow and Ken Edwards and Cents stalwart Steve Kenworthy have begun a regular YouTube chat show called Under The Bar. Described by critics as 'uncensored, pointless waffle', and by others as 'three middle aged men talking tripe', this show promises to redefine the term 'blockbuster tv'. Oh, and they also talk about Rugby League as well. Tune in to watch and listen by clicking on the picture below . You won't regret it ... well, you might. Cents Juniors Help Win London Origin
Five St Albans Centurions U14's helped London North beat London South in the first game in the London Origin series. Albert Newbury-Kemp, George Brandt, Arthur Rennie-Sivell, Sonny Badcock and Harry Woodard all played their part in the 18 - 4 win played at Hemel Hempstead. Cents player Patrick Ludlow had also been selected for the squad but a broken leg from a previous game prevented him from playing. Well done to you all. (Sept 2022) Great Game For The Masters
"An absolutely SUPERB game of Masters Rugby League" was how today's game at the Colosseum was described. Medway Dragons with a few friends from Southampton Spitfires and Basingstoke made the journey up to St Albans and a real ding dong of a game took place. Players new and old just got stuck in and were "fit, youthful and good-looking again for a brief moment of time"! We even had a bit of a to-do, that was immediately resolved and forgotten about! There is talk of an video nasty as the game was recorded on 'refcam' and can apparently be viewed on facebook. A big thank you from the club to everyone who helped on the day, including Mrs Tibbles for the photo and Tony Halliwell for the BBQ and afters. The U14 Cup clash saw the undefeated Brentwood Eels square off against one of only two sides that have managed a draw against them this season, St Albans Centurions, whose only loss this season came in the reverse fixture against the Eels. The Cents finished runners up in the London League table, one point behind the winners, Brentwood. Well done to all our Under 14 players, Iain the coach, officials, parents and volunteers. (23rd July 2022) Cents Masters Wow The Crowds At The London 9's Festival
Report from Cents Masters Manager, Mick O'Shea - A Great Day of Rugby was had at the London 9s at Chiswick RFC on Sunday. St Albans Centurions Masters took on Myanmar Dragons XIII raising money for Crossing the Gain Line charity In a tightly contested match, we saw lots of effort and a few tries too. Myanmar were a great bunch of lads who are new to Masters so we played a 'Red And Gold shorts' game instead. Cheers to Deniz Gunbey, Joel 'Boom' Holmes and Steven Kenworthy for playing for Myanmar and to everyone who pulled on a Centurions shirt today including "Bad Danny" Rowlinson who fought through the traffic and turned up just as the game was finishing. The Cents made a lot of new friends at this international event with their hip swivelling and joint creaking. Well done the Grey Cents. It's all on YouTube so go to London9s and start at the beginning. https://youtu.be/5XozpXDezjU Next game for the Masters, 24th July -v- Medway Dragons, ko 13.30 at The Garrison Stadium, 22 Sally Port Gardens, Gillingham ME7 5BU. Tigers 24 - 50 Cents St Albans Cents remain unbeaten in the league after this emphatic victory over Bedford Tigers. Match day photos now on our photo website. Match report on Open Age team page. (2 July 2022) CENTS COVERED ON LOCAL RADIO
Radio Verulam, St Albans local radio station, did an interview with Cents head coach Sam Wingad on Tuesday as part of their weekly sports coverage. I think it's fair to say the show went down very well as the reporter, who had been down to watch the Cents - Tigers game on Saturday, kept mentioning that he was blown away by the speed of the game and the ferocity of the tackles. Throw in a bit of club history, Super League chat and the East League and you had a great sports show. (22 June 2022) SOUTHERN MASTERS FESTIVAL
St Albans Centurions Masters (Over 35's) had a Great Time at the Southern Masters Festival, held at Aldershot and Fleet this year, featuring teams from the Royal Navy, Aldershot, Southampton, Swindon, Medway and Cardiff. Cambridge Pride 0 - 24 St Albans Centurions St Albans were awarded the 2 league points and a 24 - 0 win when Cambridge Pride contacted them and Cancelled their game. This puts The Cents on top of the league with next weeks visitors, Bedford Tigers one point behind them in second place. (11 June 2022) CENTS LOSE OUT IN EAST CUP SEMI FINAL
Brentwood Eels 50 - 38 Cents St Albans Cents travelled to Brentwood to take on the Eels in the East RL Cup semi Final. Although the game ended in a Eels win, the Cents should not be disheartened as the Brentwood team had several of their Southern Conference team in their squad as their first team did not have a game on that day. The game was very close at half time, 20-18 to the Eels, but Brentwood pulled away towards the end of the second half to go through to the final. (4 June 2022) CENTS U14's CLIMB THE TABLE
St Albans Cents U14's 30 - 10 Eastern Rhinos U14's The Cents Under fourteen team climbed up the London Junior League table to second place with this win over the Eastern Rhinos. The Cents came out with all guns blazing as they dominated the first 15 minutes, then it was a Rhinos fight back on both sides of half time, only for the Cents to rally and run in a couple of great tries in the last ten minutes. (21 May 2022) ANOTHER WIN FOR THE SENIORS
North Herts Knights 26 - 40 St Albans Cents The temperature was in the high 70's for this game, which was played in four 20 minute quarters. Both teams provided a great game for the spectators and the old adage 'end to end rugby' really applied here. The game seemed to run to the rule of Cents score, Knights score, and seemed to go that way all through the game until in the last ten minutes when the Cents scored two outstanding tries and took the game. (14 May 2022) CENTS WIN FIRST LEAGUE GAME OR THE SEASON
St Albans Cents 38 - 10 Anglian Vipers St Albans proved too tough for the League new boys, The Vipers in the first game of the season. Both teams were committed to open rugby with the ball being thrown about , causing the odd 'ooh' and 'ahh' from the spectators. As the game went on, Cents slowly began to settle into their game plan and impose themselves on the visitors, eventually running out as comfortable winners. (7 May 2022). CENTS WIN FIRST ROUND IN CUP
Canvey Knights 18 - 32 St Albans Centurions Canvey Knights have moved into the East Rugby League for this season and today they hosted the Cents in the first round of the East League Cup. The game was fast and furious with the Cents showing their experience and building up a good lead in the first half. The Knights must have had a good talking to at half time as they started the second half in great form and drew level with the Cents. Fortunately the St Albans team rallied and scored three tries in the last ten minutes. (30 April 2022). ST ALBANS CENTURIONS MASTERS ARE RECRUITING
